An Austrian Islamic Association based in Europe is planning to launch projects for the benefit of Muslim and other minorities around the world and more specifically in South East Asia.
The new strategy that the association intends to follow consists in financing projects for a long term period instead of focussing on occasional ones. For instance, the mother and child association has already started the implementation of a program aiming at improving the living conditions of the third world population.
The head of the association declared “There are projects ready for implementation on the eve of 2008; one of these comprises a housing project in addition to businesses that will contribute in the funding of schools for orphans and houses for poor families in remote provinces in Thailand and Sri Lanka”.
The head of the association further added that the idea has been hailed by Arab and Islamic communities living in Austria, in the sense that he declared” The” living standards in such a countries like Thailand and Burma are very low that for instance a mosque for 100 prayers would cost something like seven thousands Euros” . He later on added” A building comprising ten families can be built for only 50 thousand Euros and dig a well for only 500 Euros.. These sums are insignificant for European citizens and could help to improve the living conditions of orphans and their families.”
